Pure magnesium sulphate can be obtained by adding magnesite and dolomite to the ammonium sulphate solution. The resulting magnesium sulfate solution is concentrated after distilling off ammonia to precipitate calcium sulphate, which is then processed into magnesium sulfate and other magnesium compounds.
